Last Saturday morning , September 18th, saw a hive of activity descend on O’Garney Park as the Bridge Bucks welcomed Doora-Barefield to Sixmilebridge for the first U6/U7 blitz of the season.

After over 4 months of a tough pre-season, the 47 Sixmilebridge players gathered at the wall ball Astro for a quick warmup and a few words of encouragement from their coaches. They were then welcomed onto field to loud cheers and rapturous  applause from all the parents in attendance, which was fantastic to see.

Doora travelled with in excess of 50 players, so all 100+ players in attendance played 4 games of 10 minutes duration.

This will have been the first blitz that many of these lads participated in. For the rest it will have been their first blitz in 2 years, so it was hugely encouraging to see the vigour and enthusiasm that the young bucks had for their games. There was plenty of skill on show and lots of ‘clash of the ash’.

It was a great mornings hurling with lots of smiling faces. The competitive action will have brought the lads on a tonne. Thanks to everyone for the organisation and to St Josephe Doora Barefield for travelling, and a big thanks to the parents for their support also.

Next weekend sees the competitive action continue, with an away trip to Meelick/Parteen on Saturday afternoon !
